325 Square Feet Full Home Renovation
A home over 50 years old, where the daughter grew up, has been completely renovated for her father's retirement years. Home safety, ample storage space, and practical functionality were the top priorities.
The daughter renovated this memory-filled residence to ensure her elderly father could spend his golden years comfortably at home. With her father being over 90 years old and requiring professional care, she incorporated both our safety and practicality recommendations along with her own ideas for daily convenience during our design consultations.
The entire home design centers around accessibility, particularly the open-concept kitchen layout. This design not only creates a more spacious feel but also allows caregivers to move freely while preparing meals and maintaining visual contact. Although her father no longer cooks, the open kitchen enables caregivers to move easily and maintain interaction with him, enhancing the home's warmth. The kitchen is equipped with electric stoves for enhanced safety during meal preparation.
The bathroom design was carefully considered. The daughter installed a bathroom heater for safer and more comfortable bathing. The bathroom floor features non-slip materials, and besides basic handrails, our specially designed shower curtain with integrated handrail was installed to help her father maintain balance when entering and exiting the shower area, reducing fall risks.
To enhance safety, the daughter had electrical outlets installed in the ceiling for CCTV cameras and vital sign radar monitors, allowing caregivers to better assist while enabling her to monitor her father's real-time condition and ensure his safety.
The helper's room was thoughtfully designed with a loft-style arrangement. The upper level serves as the caregiver's living space, providing necessary rest areas, while the lower level is used for storage, maintaining household organization. This arrangement facilitates both caregiving and efficient space utilization.
This renovation not only improved living safety but also showed care and consideration for each family member. Through these detailed design elements, the daughter hopes her father can enjoy every peaceful and pleasant day in this familiar home.
